Fun Day Update - amazing!!!

After collecting £4£ matching from four different companies, our school Fun Day raised a staggering £5,992 for the PTA. Thanks to all involved from every single child in school.

Well done to the children (and their teachers J )

If you were luckier than I was and managed to attend last night’s musical evening, then you will know that it was something special! Well done to all performers – so many people have told me how amazing you were J

Not such good news L

A neighbour rang last week to say there was a car parked right on the junction of Chantry Avenue and Riddings Lane. A car trying to turn the corner almost hit another one because visibility was affected. This car reversed and nearly hit a car behind them. Parents and children were negotiating crossing the road.

Data Collection for Year 4

A change is coming to our communication systems between home and school. From October, we hope to eliminate the need for paper communication, save money, and to speed up key messages to you. To do this effectively… we now need to begin the process of data collection for the children currently in Miss Newsome’s and Mrs Dodd’s classes. If you have a child in either class please email by next Tuesday 13th July to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   giving:

1.      your preferred email address for information from school

2.      your preferred first contact mobile number for text messages from school

3.      your permission for a head and shoulders photograph of your child to be used for administrative purposes in school (eg cashless lunch system)

KS2 Sports Day – A message from Mr Cairns

KS2 Sports Day is on Monday 12th July at 1.30pm. A decision as to whether it is going ahead will be made at approximately 10.30 am and a message posted on the school website if it is cancelled. Please avoid phoning school as you will appreciate how difficult it is for the school office to deal with a high number of calls at any one time.  Please note the following:

  • All children will need to bring a hat and a water bottle into school.
  • Can you please ensure your child has the following colour shirt on the day:
White - Mrs. Harper/Sexton, Mr. Cairns, Miss. Newsome and Mrs. Turner.
Blue - Mrs. Birtwistle, Miss. Willerton, Mrs. Dodd and Mrs.Nutall.
  • To enable the afternoon’s events to run smoothly, please do not cross the athletics track onto the children's side to speak to your child.
  • Children will return to class at the end of the day and be dismissed at the usual time.

Your support on the day is much appreciated.

Yours sincerely
